Reporting into senior SEND and Finance leaders, you will play a critical role in testing a proposed SEND banding framework and designing a clear, evidence-based cost library to support fair, consistent, and transparent funding decisions across mainstream, specialist, and post-16 settings.
This senior interim role requires exceptional analytical ability, strong SEND expertise, and proven experience delivering complex work independently within a local authority context.
Your Role as SEND Consultant – Banding Framework & Cost Library
- Lead rigorous testing of the proposed SEND banding framework
- Develop a robust, transparent cost library to underpin banding decisions
- Analyse data from settings, finance teams, and national benchmarks
- Assess implications of the Schools White Paper and national SEND reforms
- Produce high-quality reports summarising findings, methodology, and recommendations
- Engage with SENCOs, headteachers, LA officers, and finance colleagues to gather insight and test proposals
Your Previous Experience as a SEND Consultant
- Significant experience within a local authority SEND service
- Strong background working with schools and understanding operational SEND practice
- Demonstrable analytical, modelling, and data-handling skills
- In-depth understanding of statutory SEND processes and national policy
- Experience designing or testing SEND banding models
- Knowledge of the Schools White Paper and national SEND funding reform
- Experience in cost-modelling or resource-allocation methodologies
