SEND Advisory Team Manager

London Local Authority – Interim 3 Month contract initially – £460 per day – Hybrid (2 days on site per week)

A Local Authority is seeking an experienced SEND Advisory Team Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team supporting inclusive practice across mainstream education.

This senior leadership role is responsible for managing SEND Advisors and Specialist Teachers (including sensory support), ensuring high-quality early intervention for children and young people with SEND (0-25), and reducing reliance on statutory processes through strong SEN Support.

You will lead service delivery aligned to the local SEND and Alternative Provision strategy, support schools to meet a wide range of needs, and work closely with families, health, social care and the voluntary sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a specialist SEND advisory service
• Support mainstream settings to develop inclusive practice
• Drive early intervention and prevention of escalation to statutory services
• Oversee SEND reviews, Inclusion Commitment and SEN Support pathways
• Manage staff performance, quality assurance and service improvement
• Use data to target support and monitor impact
• Manage budgets and resources effectively

About you

You will be a qualified teacher with significant experience in SEND and a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and Children & Families Act 2014. You will have experience of leading teams, delivering evidence-based SEND interventions, and working in partnership with schools and families to improve outcomes. Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills are essential.
