Interim Senior Project Manager – Special Projects (Housing & Compliance) Location: London Rate: £456 per day (Inside IR35) Contract: Up to 5 months Working pattern: Hybrid (2–3 days on site) Start: ASAP A forward-thinking London local authority is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex special projects across housing, fire safety, and statutory compliance. This is a key interim role responsible for overseeing high-value remedial programmes and ensuring the council’s housing stock meets all relevant legislative and regulatory standards. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with internal teams and external contractors to plan, procure, and deliver safety-critical works, while ensuring minimal disruption to tenants and leaseholders. Key responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager: Lead and direct a team delivering specialist housing and compliance-focused projects Manage procurement processes and the planning of fire risk and building safety programmes Deliver remedial works in line with statutory and regulatory requirements Stay informed on legislative changes, building safety regulations, and policy development Research innovative materials, construction techniques, and sustainability measures Engage with residents and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and effective project delivery Support wider council initiatives, including regeneration, environmental programmes, and digital transformationThe successful Senior Project Manager will have: Proven experience delivering housing or property-related projects within a local authority or housing provider Strong understanding of fire risk assessment, building safety, and statutory compliance frameworks Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and external contractors Ability to oversee procurement, contract management, and programme planning Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes of practice, and housing policyThis is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to drive meaningful improvements in resident safety, housing quality, and long-term asset compliance.
