We have an excellent opportunity working with a Local Authority within the Midlands as a Senior Inclusion Officer. You will be responsible for carrying out the local authority's statutory responsibilities for children and young people of compulsory school age, including Elective Home Education, Children Missing Education, Child Employment and Entertainment, arranging 6th-day provision following Permanent Exclusion, and conducting investigations into offences related to irregular school attendance.

Your role as Senior Inclusion Officer:

  • Help manage a team within the inclusion service to ensure the needs of children and young people are met, with each child having the opportunity to reach full potential.
  • Contribute to allowing vulnerable learners to gain access to high quality education and achieve further wellbeing.
  • Lead on complex cases to ensure best possible outcomes are achieved, and that early intervention prevents further challenges for kids later in life.
  • Support schools, as well as challenge their decisions, to ensure they are fulfilling their educational responsibilities.

Previous experience as a Senior Inclusion Officer:

  • Strong experience of delivering advice to schools and associated professionals.
  • Experience of working in a school or working closely with them.
  • An understanding and appropriate approach to the entitlements children and young people have access to, including children excluded from school, educated at home, children with behavioural difficulties and children with SEND.
