Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with Express Engineering, a leading Oil & Gas equipment manufacturer based in the North East, to support with their search for an experienced Senior Welding Engineer.
Overall Purpose: Provide technical leadership across all welding and materials engineering activities ensuring industry-leading quality, integrity, safety and efficiency from bid stage through to successful delivery. As the subject matter expert in welding engineering, you will play a critical role in business winning, execution, customer confidence and continuous technical improvement, directly influencing manufacturing quality, cost-efficiency and delivery performance.
Key Duties:
- Business Winning & Customer Support: Support quotation and order kick-off stages with expert welding input to assess feasibility and identify qualification gaps or risks. Provide technical documentation and WPS/WPQR information for customer review & approval to support bids. Build and maintain strong technical relationships with key clients via internal and external meetings/site visits.
- Order Execution & Technical Ownership: Define all technical requirements for welding and NDT, ensuring alignment with customer, regulatory and code requirements. Select or develop WPS and qualify new WPQRs where required to enable manufacturing. Prepare and issue all welding documentation and data packs for production and customer approval. Resolve welding-related technical issues promptly to protect quality and delivery performance.
- Quality, Audit & HSE Assurance: Collaborate with Quality to verify compliance with all customer, code and internal standards. Support welding-related internal and external audits as required. Monitor weld quality, identify root causes of defects and drive preventative improvements. Promote and maintain continuous improvement and exemplary HSE standards.
- Technical Improvement & Process Advancement: Investigate new welding processes, consumables and technologies to enhance capability, efficiency and productivity. Lead and support technical improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. Provide technical guidance, training and development to trainee and junior welding engineers.
Key Requirements:
- An experienced IWE / EWE qualified Welding Engineer.
- Have extensive welding engineering experience in a relevant manufacturing / engineering environment.
- Have a strong background in oil & gas / offshore / subsea manufacturing ideally with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
- Possess advanced technical knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy and NDE for industry-standard materials.
The Package: From £55, per annum depending on experience. Monday-Thursday 7:30AM-4:30PM, Friday 7:30AM-1:30PM (some flexibility offered). 25 days annual holiday in addition to statutory bank holidays. Holiday Buy and Sell scheme.
