Baltic Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Permanent Accountant to join our clientβs Wynyard Practice. Reporting to the practice manager, the role involves the preparation of year-end accounts, management accounts, tax returns, VAT returns, and bookkeeping. The position also includes reviewing work and liaising with the team.
The role works with a variety of clients such as Limited Companies, LLPs, sole traders, and partnerships. The main objective is to ensure the effective and timely completion of tasks while maintaining high standards of quality.
Our client is open to qualified Accountants or those who are not fully qualified but are working towards qualification.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Preparation and review of year-end and management accounts based on client records (Excel, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Kashflow, or paper).
- Preparation of personal, partnership, and corporation tax computations.
- Review of work prepared by the team and related communication.
- Handling queries related to accounts and ensuring records are accurate and compliant with laws and regulations.
- Dealing with client queries and HMRC correspondence.
- Assisting other staff members as required.
- Managing the full end-to-end process from record receipt to final liability agreement with the client.
- Reviewing bookkeeping prepared by the outsourcing department.
- Providing bookkeeping services for clients.
- Reviewing CIS returns.
- Verifying, allocating, and posting transactions to maintain subsidiary accounts.
- Reconciling entries and preparing trial balances.
- Maintaining financial records and preparing reports by analyzing account information and trends.
Applicant Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in practice.
- Experience in completing and reviewing VAT returns.
- Bookkeeping experience.
- Part-qualified, pursuing, or completed ACCA/ACA qualification.
- AAT qualification required.
- Proficiency in personal tax and VAT.
- Knowledge of IRIS and QuickBooks is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent analytical and review skills.
- Commitment to professional client service excellence.
- Technical knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
- IT skills and ability to build client relationships.
- Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping software is desirable.
Salary is negotiable depending on experience. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am β 5 pm, with travel required. Candidates may also be interested in roles related to Accounts, Finance, and Accountancy.
