Baltic Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Permanent Bar Steward/Manager based in Newton Aycliffe. Responsible for managing the bar effectively so that profits are maximised, while at the same time looking to meet customer service requirements. Engaging and managing sufficient staff on behalf of the Management Committee to serve general bar requirements and other functions. Ensure suitable HSE policies and practices are followed and practised.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of bar and function room operation.
- Recruit cleaning and bar staff sufficient for serving the requirements of running the Club bar and function room effectively.
- Ensure there is sufficient staff cover at all times using a suitable rota system taking account of varying demands through the week and more widely during the course of a year.
- Liaise with Sporting Sections so that any planning on their part can be taken into account when making arrangements for bar/function room operation.
- Ensure bar staff are trained and supervised in expected behaviour regarding service, appearance and personal hygiene.
- Manage bar staff and cleaner grievance and disciplinary issues and raise these with the Officers of the Club when necessary.
- Ensure high practice standards and procedures are in place regarding Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) issues.
- Ensure sufficient stock is available at all times, and that stock is in date and correctly rotated.
- Maintain appropriate records relating to ordering, wastage, and returns.
- Participate in stock checks.
- Ensure security procedures are in place for protection of the bar and function room and that these are followed by staff.
- Ensure all staff are familiar with fire procedures including evacuation of the premises.
- Ensure effective systems are in place to reconcile day-to-day bar income against till roll totals.
- Bank cash each week after weekend receipts.
- Ensure high standards of hygiene are maintained throughout the premises.
- Clean draft beer/lager lines weekly.
- Attend Club Management Committee meetings when requested.
Applicants:
- Demonstrate high personal levels of reliability, organisation, effective use of time, and communication.
- The Steward is required to hold a personal licence to sell alcohol.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Good communication skills.
Company Benefits:

- Working 40 hours per week, including weekends with 2 rest days per week.
