Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a market-leading manufacturing organisation to assist with their search for a Production Improvement Engineer. Our client is seeking an electrically biased Production Improvement Engineer, or an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer who is keen to further develop their skills in continuous/process improvement.

Overall Purpose

Based within the company clean rooms, you will take a hands-on approach to implementing quality, throughput and process standardisation improvements to existing production processes. Utilise mechanical, electrical and electronic skills to provide support and training to production and maintenance staff in the setting up and standardisation of equipment and resolution of breakdowns. To work collaboratively with the production team and others as required.

Key Duties

  • Be the first link to production when dealing with process issues which may occur – working with teams and departments to suggest ways to move forward and overcome.
  • Analyse existing processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist designers in the development of new products when requested, including the writing of new assembly sequences.
  • When required, assist in the implementation of new products in accordance with the relevant SOP for Product Development.
  • Learn existing technologies/processes and act as technical back-up to all teams when required.
  • Assist in the design and development of relevant machinery, tooling, equipment and processes to ensure we maintain high quality, safe, effective and minimum cost products, new or existing.
  • Support production and maintenance staff on equipment including automation to maintain and increase production efficiency.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all work in the formats required.
  • Involvement with new design, installation and movement of existing equipment.
  • Liaison with any sub-contractors.
  • Overhaul and repair of machines/equipment/plant machinery.
  • Design and train others in preventative maintenance practices.
  • Plan and prioritise workload to support the manufacturing process, ensuring all processes are robust, safe and properly maintained and documented as appropriate.
  • Continually monitor process performance through uptime/downtime, developing action plans for improvement.
  • Ensure all drawings, documents and relevant information is kept up to date.
  • Ensure personal training is carried out as and when required.
  • Carry out any such other tasks as and when required.
  • Assist in any area of the business when required.
  • Work with Shift Leaders to ensure compliance to Health and Safety standards.
  • Ensure maintenance compliance to relevant quality, Regulatory and H&S standards and general requirements.
  • Monitor, maintain and strive for continuous improvement to the service and for effective good practice within their role.
  • Maintain and improve upon the company’s current Kaizen / 5S activities in all environments and assistance with all future improvement activities.
  • Ensure training of others is robust, safe and documented as appropriate.
  • Deliver work safely and to a standard that ensures the health and safety of others.

Key Requirements

  • Time served and experienced in Electrical and electronic Engineering with mechanical capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of production methods for component and assembly manufacture.
  • Proven solid experience in a manufacturing OR assembly environment.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen or 5S continual improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience of Electrical and Mechanical Installations.
  • Experience of automation/pick & place installation, fault finding and repair.

The Package

  • Day shift role: Monday to Thursday 7:45 and 16:40 & Friday 07:45 to 12:45.
  • Flexible Working is offered for this position. Employee is able to build a Flexible allowance 2 days credit/1 day deficit.
  • Pension contribution 5%.
  • Pension Salary Sacrifice Scheme.
  • Death In service Benefit 2 x Annual salary.
