Role Review
As a Sustainability Coach, you’ll use your industry knowledge and understanding of our apprenticeship programmes to deliver outstanding personal and professional guidance to learners. You’ll manage your own caseload, delivering training, workshops, and reviews to develop skills, knowledge, and behaviours that support timely and successful achievement. With robust support and clear progression across levels, you’ll grow in autonomy, responsibility, and impact while helping learners reach their full potential.
We offer three levels with this role:
- Junior Sustainability Coach
- Sustainability Coach
- Senior Sustainability Coach
Key Responsibilities & Role Expectations
Junior Sustainability Coach
- Support Level 3 and 4 learners to build portfolios for end point assessments
- Assist in managing up to 56 learners through their apprenticeship via training days, workshops, and quarterly reviews
- Facilitate technical workshops and personal development microteaches
- Maintain high‑quality programme standards, collaborating with your QDA
- Establish positive relationships with learners, employers, and internal stakeholders
- Track learner progress via SMART online classroom and manage off‑the‑job hours
- Attend standardisation meetings and maintain accurate records
Sustainability Coach
- Support Level 3 and 4 learners to build portfolios and achieve end point assessments
- Manage a caseload of up to 56 learners, delivering training, workshops, and microteaches
- Track learner progress through 1:1 and group sessions, managing milestones and off‑the‑job hours
- Maintain high‑quality programme standards in line with awarding body requirements
- Build strong relationships with learners, employers, and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance
- Contribute to the growth and development of apprenticeship provision
Senior Sustainability Coach
- Support Level 3 and 4 learners to build portfolios and achieve end point assessments
- Manage a caseload of learners, delivering training, workshops, and reviews to develop skills and behaviours
- Track learner progress and manage milestones using 1:1 and group sessions via SMART
- Maintain high‑quality programme standards and ensure compliance with awarding body requirements
- Build strong relationships with learners, employers, and internal stakeholders
- Keep records, training plans, and occupational knowledge up to date
- Contribute to the growth and development of apprenticeship provision
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, PCET, AET) and/or experience in a Corporate Responsibility or Sustainability role
- Proven experience delivering apprenticeship programmes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong rapport and understanding with learners
- Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to challenge constructively and provide developmental feedback
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Flexible and resilient, with a thorough and logical approach to problem‑solving
- Confident using a range of IT systems and databases
- Open, honest, and transparent communicator with the determination to see solutions through to completion
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, PCET, AET) and/or experience in a Corporate Responsibility or Sustainability role
- Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or equivalent
- Proven experience delivering apprenticeship programmes
- Knowledge of the apprenticeship sector and standards
- Recognised Sustainability and Environmental Compliance qualifications such as IEMA Foundation/Practitioner (now IESP), Carbon Literacy certification, or ISO 14001 Auditor
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and behaviour change
- Experience contributing to sustainability strategy and ongoing maintenance
- Strong understanding of environmental and sustainability concepts, frameworks, and systems including ESG, net zero, Scope 1/2/3, and ISO 14001
