Gala Technology is seeking a driven and passionate Software Development Apprentice to join its innovative fintech team. Gala Technology is a forward-thinking fintech company that develops secure and intelligent payment solutions through its flagship platform SOTpay. The business helps organisations process safe and PCI compliant payments across a wide range of channels including online, telephone, email and live chat. The company is known for combining strong technical expertise with a focus on customer experience and high standards in payment security.

Gala Technology is looking for a Software Development Apprentice who is passionate about coding, motivated to learn and eager to contribute to real software projects. The ideal candidate will be curious, committed to personal growth and excited to develop their skills within a fast-moving technology environment. The successful apprentice will join a supportive technical team made up of experienced developers who value collaboration, knowledge sharing and creativity. The team is dedicated to helping new talent grow and to providing a positive and encouraging environment where questions and ideas are always welcome.

Through Gala Technology's partnership with Baltic Apprenticeships, the apprentice will receive structured training combined with hands-on experience on live development projects. This includes exposure to modern development practices, payment technology, web and backend programming and the ongoing evolution of the SOTpay platform. This combination of guided learning and practical project work provides a strong foundation for a long-term career in software development.

In this role, you'll work towards your Level 3 Software Development Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and enhancing Java-based web applications.
  • Work closely with senior developers and other team members to deliver new features and improve existing systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities.
  • Collaborate using established processes and tools, ensuring timely resolution of tickets and tasks.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and follow coding and quality standards.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiar with Java or similar languages.
  • Web development projects in own time.
  • Passionate about development and tech.
  • Willing to learn.
  • Grade 6 in GCSE Maths & Grade 4 in GCSE English.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £19,500-£23,809 per annum.
  • 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
  • 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Free parking.

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in software development. Afterwards, we'll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.
