Esteem Care Dumfries and Galloway Ltd prides themselves on being a unique service, and on being one of the only main Emergency Care Responders in the region. It is important that all staff who participate in being an Emergency Responder follow the Emergency Procedure and always put the Service User as the main concern. What might not be an emergency to us, e.g., losing glasses or remote control, a light bulb blowing etc can cause a panic in the Service User, so it is important to always empathise with the Service User.
Main Duties:
- To provide rapid response service to service users who use a telecom alert system in an emergency situation.
- To liaise with Care Call to ensure details of service user are correct.
- All duties of the Home Carer to be followed when providing an Emergency Response service.
- Staff must be able to provide a rapid response to any call out (maximum 30 minutes unless otherwise specified).
- There are always 2 Responders on Call at one time, a 1st Responder, and a 2nd Responder.
- The 1st Responder will have the main Responding phone. This is the phone Care Call, or any other agencies will call if the service is required to a Service User.
- Responders will be paid an amount per day/night to be available for any emergency situations, i.e., Call Outs/Care Packages/Holidays/Sickness etc.
What we are looking for in Emergency Responders:
- You will need to be willing to respond when on-call, including unsocial hours.
- We keep the Service Users at the heart of what we do, working to understand their needs and the difference we make.
- Good interpersonal, diplomacy, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of the role Emergency Responder.
- Caring people who can empathise with Service Users.
- Able to safely carry out duties in line with Esteem Care Dumfries and Galloway Ltd standards such as at a Service Users home.
- Able to use knowledge and experience of Esteem Care Dumfries and Galloway Ltd policies and procedures, in particular safeguarding children and adults, health and safety and confidentiality.
- Able to use emotional support skills, in a calm and responsible manner, while providing individuals with practical support, and signposting as appropriate.
- Able to recognise the signs of stress in yourself and others and be aware of support options.
- Adhere to Esteem Care Dumfries and Galloway Ltd Equal Opportunity Policy.
- Willing to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau check.
