Balmoral Comtec, part of Freudenberg Flow Technologies, provides surface and subsurface buoyancy, insulation and elastomer products and services to the global energy, defence, subsea communications and oceanographic industries. We are looking for a skilled Facilities & Site Maintenance Operator to support the upkeep, repair, and development of our premises. This is a busy hands-on role ideal for an experienced tradesperson with a strong background in joinery and general building maintenance. Based at Balmoral Park, Loirston, Altens, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards across the site, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational excellence. There may also be occasional work at other sites, including customer locations. There is the opportunity to work overtime during busy periods. Due to rotating shift and safety requirements applicants must be at least aged 18 or over.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general joinery work across office and site areas
  • Undertake office construction, alterations, and finishing works
  • Install and repair flooring (laminate and carpet tiles)
  • Maintain external building areas (e.g. roofing, guttering repairs)
  • Finishing joinery work
  • Conduct seasonal grounds maintenance (grass cutting, weeding, pruning, gritting, etc)
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including painting, plastering, decorating, and renovation
  • Diagnose faults and specify appropriate repair solutions
  • Knowledge of legionella and prevention measures
  • Manage external contractors and monitor quality/performance
  • Ensure compliance with QHSE policies and HSE regulations, and completing actions where required
  • Monitor building performance in line with regulatory requirements
  • Project planning and initiation
  • Troubleshoot site issues and respond to day-to-day maintenance needs
  • Live the Balmoral values and demonstrate in all aspects of works, including equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Carry out instructions as requested on a day-to-day basis

Qualifications

  • Joinery apprenticeship
  • City & Guilds certification
  • Full UK driving licence

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a skilled tradesperson within construction/building maintenance
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Effective workload, contractor, and budget management skills
  • Good IT literacy (including email and Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience with access equipment (e.g. scissor lift, boom lift)
  • Knowledge of facilities compliance systems and building performance monitoring
