Balmoral Comtec Ltd, a division of Balmoral Group, is a trusted partner to the global offshore energy sector, offering technical expertise, a project track record and innovative buoyancy, protection and insulation product solutions.The successful applicant will support the business for all Quality Assurance activities, including the effective maintenance of Balmoral Comtec Integrated Management System (IMS). Responsibilities include investigating significant issues, ensuring lessons are identified and incorporated as best practice, and managing internal audit arrangements.What will you do as a Goods Inwards Inspector? Promote the Balmoral Group core values.Contribute to the development and implementation of company and QHSE objectives.Establish and maintain open lines of communication to ensure objectives are met and develop good working relationships.Use and comply with the Balmoral systems, processes, and tools – challenge and improve our management systems, processes, and tools.Actively promote and encourage continual improvement – seek best practice and identify improvements from within and externally.Identify, develop, and execute programmes aimed at promoting QHSE performance within the business. Focus on differentiators that produce positive results.Encourage collaboration and sharing across the organisation – communicate information, seek feedback and act accordingly.Promote the continued development and improvement of the IMS and associated ways of working, systems, processes and tools.Ensure inspection requirements are evaluated, identified and understood, including project specific requirements as per approved ITPs for all products and components.Liaise with the QC Lead to ensure that inspection techniques and methods are appropriate to determine product conformance to requirements, and that inspection and measuring equipment is suitable.Ensure manufactured products are inspected in a timely manner, including first article, in‐process and final inspection activities to verify conformance to specified requirements (drawings, specifications, ITPs).Ensure procured components and goods are inspected in a timely manner to verify conformance to specified requirements (purchase orders, drawings, specifications or standards).Ensure client provided items (free issue materials) are inspected in a timely manner to verify conformance to specified project requirements (drawings, specifications or standards).Ensure inspection and measurement of critical‐to‐quality (CTQ) requirements are conducted using calibrated measuring and test equipment.Ensure that any faulty or damaged inspection and measurement equipment are segregated from unintended use and reported to arrange repair or replacement as appropriate.Ensure that identification and traceability, including part‐marking requirements, are maintained in accordance with specified requirements.Ensure non‐conforming products, procured components and goods, including client provided items, are clearly and effectively identified, segregated and controlled to prevent unintended use.Ensure that remedial actions to address product and/or material non‐conformances are verified prior inspection release and their inspection status is updated.Liaise with external and/or client‐appointed inspection resources as appropriate.Ensure that inspection reporting systems are effective and that records of inspection are clear and accurate and provided in a timely manner.Identify improvements to inspection systems and processes, including the use of technology (e.g. inspection and measuring equipment, inspection reporting).Support audits as appropriate including internal audits, second‐party client audits, third‐party certification audits and product approvals audits.Provision of ad‐hoc inspection support as appropriate (e.g. provision of holiday cover to shift QC Inspectors).Support the review of specified material certification/documentation is correct and resolve queries or anomalies.What are we looking for in a Goods Inwards Inspector? Ability to read manufacturing/geometrical drawings.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.IT‐skilled with data input / handling experience and working with databases.Clear and effective communication skills, both written and oral.Ability to multi‐task and adapt to changing working conditions.Works well independently and as part of a team.Organised and analytical with an enthusiastic approach to problem solving.Self‐motivated, able to work under pressure and prioritise workloads.Good organisational, literary and numeracy skills.Attention to detail, manage and record deliverables with a high level of accuracy.Able to build, and continually cultivate, relationships.Enthusiasm for self‐development.Lead and manage root cause analysis investigations.What experience is required? Required Minimum of 3 years\’ experience in an inspection role within a manufacturing environment.Experience using coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and supporting software (e.g. Faro Arm and Aberlink software).Knowledge of relevant industry technical codes and standards, e.g. BS EN 10204.Knowledge of mechanical/metallurgical testing principles (e.g. radiography, NDT/NDE).Understanding of national calibration requirements (e.g. UKAS certification requirements).Desirable (not essential) Relevant previous experience leading and coordinating inspection activities.Knowledge of ISO 9001 management system requirements and associated terminology.Application of root cause analysis tools and techniques.Experience of internal and external audit activities.Leading root cause investigations.What\’s in it for you?
