Balmoral Tanks Ltd is a market-leading engineering organisation, delivering high-quality storage solutions across the UK and internationally. We are seeking a talented Design Engineer, based at our Glasgow office, to support the delivery of complex, project-specific design solutions from concept through to manufacture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong CAD experience, great attention to detail, and the ambition to develop their engineering career within a supportive, forward-thinking business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Produce accurate, detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings using AutoCAD and related software.
- Prepare tank general arrangements, CNC drawings, access steelwork, roof structures, and other project-based designs.
- Manage drawing control through Vault, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Liaise closely with Sales, Contracts, Manufacturing and on-site teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Attend design review meetings internally and with clients.
- Create manufacturing lists and check feasibility of designs, materials, and fabrication approaches.
- Contribute to a safe working environment in line with company policies.
- Modify existing drawings and support continuous improvement of design processes.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
- GCSEs (Maths, English, Science, Technology) or relevant CAD-related BTEC/City & Guilds.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor (iLogic advantageous), AutoCAD, and Vault Pro.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a design team.
- Strong use of CAD systems and engineering software.
- Experience working to tight deadlines and engaging with customers.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong organisational and decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings confidently.
- Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
