Group Accountant 6 months Fixed Term contract with potential to become permanent - Belfast.
Ballyvesey Holdings is the privately owned parent company of a wide range of trading subsidiaries. Established in 1970, the group's activities are centred around the transport and logistics sectors. These include truck and commercial vehicle sales & service, vehicle rental, commercial vehicle maintenance services, commercial vehicle and plant auctions, transport, distribution, warehousing, and construction plant equipment sales and service.
We are now recruiting for a Group Accountant to join our central finance team in Newtownabbey. This is a six month fixed term contract with the potential to become permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with group reporting, group returns and group recharges;
- Liaise with group entities to ensure group reporting standards are maintained;
- Assisting with preparation of head office monthly accounts;
- Assist with group reporting, group returns and group recharges;
- Assist in reconciling balance sheet accounts for the head office company;
- Preparation and posting of nominal journals;
- Assist with developing the group finance manual, controls and processes;
- Other ad-hoc tasks as required.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills;
- Experience and good working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts;
- Good attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Excellent planning and organisational skills;
- Proven ability to deliver high quality work within strict time frames;
- Flexible in adapting to varied workloads;
- Professional conduct and positive attitude;
- Ability to work on own initiative;
- Willingness to learn and take on new tasks and challenges.
Essential Criteria:
- Accountancy qualification equivalent to Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI)) or above;
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working within accountancy role/s;
- Experience using Sage 50 accounting software;
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills;
- Ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
Desired Criteria:
- Experience working in a large group of companies;
- Knowledge of and/or experience in working within the transport and logistics sector;
- Previous experience in assisting with developing finance manuals, controls and processes;
- Fully qualified with a professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
