Shift Engineer • Pan Peninsula & WardianLocation: E14, Canary Wharf – Hours: 7:00–19:00, 4 on 4 off. Salary £45,000 per annum. Permanent 42hpw contract.
What You\’ll DoOperations
Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance tasks via CAFM.
Undertake first‐line fault finding and minor remedial works.
Monitor plant performance, record data and report defects.
Assist specialist contractors during servicing.
Keep plant rooms, risers, service areas clean, safe and orderly.
Follow permit‐to‐work, isolation and lock‐off procedures.
Escalate life‐safety issues or works outside competence.
Operate building services systems per manufacturer guidance.
Health & Safety
Comply with company H&S policies and site risk assessments.
Use approved RAMS and report hazards.
Support emergency response and review SOPs.
Administration & Reporting
Complete maintenance records, PPM sheets, logbooks and CAFM updates.
Document defects, escalations and handover reports.
Handle documentation in line with GDPR and company procedures.
Key Performance
PPM tasks completed 95%+ on schedule.
Timely defect reporting.
Minimal plant downtime from maintenance.
Compliance with H&S and permit‐to‐work systems.
Systems
Use CAFM for work allocation and reporting.
Monitor BMS and report alarms.
Support Facilities Manager with digital records.
Communication & Teamwork
Clear communication with colleagues and contractors.
Collaborative problem‐solving and maintenance activities.
Environmental & Sustainability
Operate plant efficiently to minimise energy use.
Report leaks, waste or inefficiencies.
Follow waste disposal and recycling procedures.
Statutory / Regulatory Compliance
Assist in statutory inspections (Lifting Equipment, Pressure Systems, Legionella).
Ensure plant and systems meet manufacturer specs and legislation.
Support Facilities Manager with compliance evidence.
Handover & Shift Responsibilities
Effectively hand over shift, documenting plant status and faults.
Escalate urgent or statutory issues to next shift or Supervisor.
Ensure continuity of maintenance activities.
What You\’ll Need To Be Successful
NVQ / City & Guilds Level 2 in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Proven experience in building services maintenance.
Basic knowledge of water treatment, HVAC, LTHW, BCWS.
Fault‐finding and problem‐solving skills.
Ability to follow procedures and complete accurate records.
Core H&S training (Working at Height, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness).
