Part time: 3 days a week, open to PAYE / Freelance.
Why Ballpoint
We are a growth agency built for the next decade. Equal parts creative and marketing science, we help brands scale through performance marketing, creative, and rapid experimentation. As a team, we’re made up of people at the top of their game – who are all deeply motivated to improve. Ballpoint started because we knew first hand what ambitious brands actually need from an agency: not big promises and account handlers, but operators who treat their business like it’s their own. We’ve been on the receiving end of all the problems. So we became the solution. Today, every Ballpoint strategist is ex-in-house senior talent. The people running client growth here are the people who used to hire agencies, not career account handlers learning on your budget. Our clients reflect who we are: early innovators, fast growing startups, and household names pushing into their next phase of growth. Each brings a new challenge for us to break through, creatively, strategically and through marketing science.
Why you
People who thrive at Ballpoint are self-motivated and take genuine ownership of their work. They’re commercially minded and confident making decisions, with a knack for solving problems quickly without losing clarity. Whatever their discipline, they care deeply about their craft and are naturally curious. We want people who are always learning, always sharing, and always raising the bar. They’re comfortable challenging others and being challenged themselves, and they know how to inspire confidence with clients and teammates alike. If that sounds like you, you’ll fit right in. We’re scaling quickly and we want the best people with us on the journey.
About this role
We’re looking for someone already operating at a senior level in paid acquisition, likely targeting a Head of Growth role next. This role is for someone who has already driven serious growth for at least one startup or challenger brand. Not as an advisor, but as the person accountable for moving the numbers, breaking through ceilings and figuring out what actually works. Growth at Ballpoint is relentless problem-solving. There are no templates, no shortcuts and no recycled frameworks. We expect you to have lived that cycle already.
This role is perfect for someone who is:
- Wired for commercial impact
- A sharp thinker who can also execute
- Obsessed with improvement
- A confident communicator who can hold a room
If you love owning both the thinking and the doing, you’ll be at home here. If you think commercially, thrive in paid social and care about business impact over vanity metrics, even better.
What this role involves
You will:
- Growth Ownership
- Own performance end-to-end across paid social (primarily Meta)
- Scale spend from small budgets to meaningful volume, with profitability as a non-negotiable
- Turn experiments into real commercial breakthroughs, not incremental tweaks
- Build actionable growth strategies rooted in data, testing and creative
- Translate strategy into structured experiments, flawless execution and clear learnings
- Present ideas, testing plans and decision frameworks to senior teams
- Communicate complex performance clearly and confidently
- Speak both commercial and technical languages depending on the room
- Build genuine trust by combining sharp thinking, transparency and results
- Measure, forecast and model scenarios for performance, retention, payback and contribution margin
- Use data to tell the truth - no vanity metrics here.
Skills & Experience
You should have:
- Deep hands-on experience growing paid social accounts profitably, ideally from ~£30k/month up toward £300k+/month
- Analytical confidence: you’re comfortable pulling data, interrogating it and building models
- Experience presenting performance, ideas and models to founders or senior leadership
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of performance: attribution windows, breakdown effect, full-funnel architecture, Meta GEM, Lattice and Andromeda
- The ability to demonstrate commercial thinking: you know what actually moves the needle for the business
Desirable (we’d expect to see strength in at least 3 of these areas):
- Growth modelling and forecasting (we often build the growth models mapping retention, payback, lifetime value etc, for our clients)
- Brand marketing experience with effective measurement strategies
- Experience running lift or incrementality tests, or MMMs
- One other channel with working experience: paid search, CRO, affiliates, SEO, etc
- Data analysis using SQL or python
- Direct response copywriting
- Experience building growth loops across customer lifecycle
