Balloo Hire Centres is a leading provider of tool, plant and welfare equipment for businesses and DIY needs in Northern Ireland. Balloo Hire Centres is part of The Briggs Equipment Group and therefore can offer a local solution with corporate level support.
We have a new opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious Area Manager to lead our successful teams covering our depots in the East of Northern Ireland (Ballyclare, Nutts Corner and Bangor). In this role, you will:
- Oversee daily operations at assigned Depots, ensuring efficient preparation of sales and hire orders and effective management of workshop service work.
- Manage rental and transport activities, coordinating closely with sales and service teams to meet customer expectations.
- Support the Head of Operations in delivering the business growth strategy across STH, sales, and transport.
- Develop and train workshop and admin staff to ensure competency and support progression.
- Improve customer contact and delivery logistics processes for both new and existing customers.
- Use our business IT system (InspHire) to identify efficiency opportunities and assist in setting departmental budgets and targets.
- Support recruitment and team structuring to strengthen workshop capability and enable future growth.
- Build strong relationships with key customers, resolving rental and workshop issues and adjusting operations to drive improvement.
- Promote and implement Group-wide best practices, with a strong focus on SHEQ standards.
What will help you to excel in this role:
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop multi-disciplinary teams.
- Extensive experience managing people at a departmental level, including performance management, training and team development.
- Solid understanding of plant hire operations, including proficiency with hire-industry IT systems and the ability to analyse operational reports, budgets, and departmental performance targets.
