Food Manufacturing experience is a must within NPD.

The Opportunity

Ballantine Recruitment is exclusively partnered with a design-led British food brand operating at the premium end of the ambient category, a space where true craftsmanship is far harder to achieve and far less common. This is not high-volume, commoditised production. This is ambient done properly, where shelf life, stability, and scalability are engineered without compromising quality, texture, or brand vision. Opportunities like this are limited. Most ambient roles prioritise cost and throughput. This one prioritises product integrity first.

The Role

You sit at the critical junction between concept and reality. Owning process development end to end, you ensure that what starts in the kitchen survives scale-up without dilution. That is the real challenge in ambient and where strong technologists stand out. You will lead factory trials, optimise processes, and solve the issues that only appear when premium products meet ambient constraints.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Taking products from concept to scalable, repeatable factory output
  • Running and owning factory trials, not observing them
  • Solving stability, consistency, and process challenges in ambient formats
  • Refining manufacturing methods without eroding product quality
  • Working cross-functionally while owning outcomes
  • Driving meaningful continuous improvement
  • About You
  • Experience in food manufacturing, ambient experience is a strong advantage
  • Proven background in factory trials and scale-up
  • Strong process understanding, you know why things fail
  • Hands-on, not a coordinator
  • Detail-focused and solutions-driven
  • You care about product quality, not just hitting specs

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Premium ambient is difficult, which is exactly why this role has value
  • Real influence, not just execution
  • Recognisable, high-quality product range
  • Clear progression as the function grows
  • A business that prioritises doing things properly
