Ballantine Recruitment is supporting a growing manufacturing business in Liverpool with the appointment of an experienced Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer.
This is a genuine hands-on engineering position within a fast-paced production environment.
Youโll be responsible for keeping equipment running, responding quickly to breakdowns and making sure planned maintenance is completed properly โ while also getting involved in continuous improvement and engineering projects.
The site operates a varied mix of automated production and packaging equipment, so this isnโt a role where youโll be working on the same piece of kit every day.

- Electrical and mechanical fault finding
- Reactive breakdown maintenance
- Planned preventative maintenance using CMMS
- Siemens PLC fault finding / navigation
- Conveyors, sensors, switches and pumps
- Packaging machinery, shrink wrappers and palletisers
- Bottling, canning and labelling equipment
- Compressed air and steam generation systems
- Supporting continuous improvement and engineering projects
- Working with contractors, permits and site inductions
- Ensuring engineering activity meets site HSE requirements

Ideally, youโll be an electrically biased Multi-Skilled Engineer who is comfortable fault finding independently and making good decisions under pressure.
Youโll need
- A time-served Electrical Apprenticeship / NVQ Level 3
- HNC/HND Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong electrical fault-finding capability
- Sound mechanical engineering knowledge
- Previous FMCG / manufacturing experience
- Experience with conveyors and automated packaging equipment
- Experience with bottling / canning environments would be highly relevant
- PLC knowledge โ Siemens / TIA Portal preferred
- LOTO and permit-to-work experience
Steam boiler / BOAS experience and LEAN qualifications would also be advantageous.
