ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Service Centre Operators are at the heart of what we do. It's not an easy role, but it's a rewarding one, which is why we believe in harnessing your talents and creating opportunities to develop you and your career with Ballance. This role is based in Hastings, however there may be the occasional time where we may need you to be available to help out in other operations.

Armed with the passion to offer exceptional customer service, you will perform a range of activities, including loading and unloading spreader and bulk trucks, processing fertiliser orders and controlling stock. This role requires some degree of fitness as there will be heavy lifting at times. Full on-site training and all work-related protective equipment will be provided.

A typical day will include:

  • Processing customer orders and inquiries - checking accuracy and fixing up any anomalies
  • Loader and forklift operation including maintenance
  • Fixed plant operation
  • Ensuring the site operates safely with regular maintenance checks
  • Interacting with customers and colleagues and having a laugh!
  • Taking a proactive approach towards environmental, health and safety matters

You will never be bored in this role and you get to stay active by getting out and interacting with our customers and operating the machinery.

ABOUT YOU

You’re not afraid of hard work and you get energy from getting stuck in and helping out where needed. Your colleagues would describe you as reliable, honest and a keen learner and you also have:

  • Good communication skills with the ability to relate well to others
  • Some computer skills are required with training provided for our in-house systems
  • A valid full class 1 license as training can be provided for forklift and loader operations.
  • A proactive attitude to health, safety and environmental management - we care about each other and we get home safe every day
  • The ability to work at other Ballance sites from time to time
  • A F endorsed forklift license and W endorsement Loader license is desirable.
