Position overview

The proof Press specialist is responsible for producing off line conventional proof can, which translates our customers design brief in a printable target reproducible by our operations at full line speed. During customer attended proofing sessions, this role is responsible for the customer and uses their technical expertise of the can printing process guiding the customer to make educated decisions, which achieves their goal, but also enables Ball operations to deliver on their production KPI’s. The role utilises our colour management processes, performs the relevant quality control checks and provides expert guidance on ink and varnish in order to support the organization’s goals of delivering superior printed materials while minimizing downtime and fostering continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Accountable & responsible for the operation of the off line can proofing press equipment in line with all Ball’s EHS standards.
  • Accountable & responsible for the production of an off line can proof which is the best translation of the customers artwork and meets all the Ball standards for full speed can printing.
  • Responsible for setting the standard for the Ball EMEA off line can proofing press.
  • Accountable & responsible for the maintenance of the off line can proofing press.
  • Responsible & capable to make improvements to the manual press, which supports the drive for innovation in process & material and improves process efficiency & accuracy.
  • Responsible for hosting the customer (should he/she wish to be on site), taking care of all their needs during this visit representing Ball.
  • Responsible to deliver on the proofing program and organizing themselves to be able to deliver on the requirements (ensuring all materials have been delivered).
  • Responsible to produce off line can proofs for the innovation team, providing technical insight as to the possibility to repeat the proof at our high speed production lines.
  • Familiar with the differences between conventional & digital proofing, capable to produce digital proofs which represent our conventional output.
  • Support the development of the Ball strategy to enable digital proofs as target for our conventional high speed production.
  • Responsible for the operation of the Ball Graphics Management system ensuring all documentation & reporting on proofing sessions is kept up to date.
  • Responsible for the governance and internal escalation in case of process deviation, in order to maintain structure in the proofing process allowing maximum output.

  • Experience working as a decorator
  • Experience in machine engineering
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a customer‑focused environment
  • Graphics knowledge and IT literacy (use of IT systems)
  • Fluent in English
