We’re looking for a highly organised and detail‑driven Payroll Specialist to take ownership of our UK payroll operations. Sitting within Finance/HR and reporting to the HR Manager, you’ll ensure every employee is paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with HMRC, RTI and workplace pension legislation. This is a hands‑on role at the heart of our people operations, supporting both payroll excellence and our newly integrated Moorepay system.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • End‑to‑End Payroll Processing - Manage weekly and monthly payroll cycles, including gross‑to‑net calculations, overtime and bonuses.
  • HMRC & RTI Compliance - Submit accurate FPS and EPS returns and maintain full compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Statutory Payments - Calculate and administer SSP, SMP and SPP, including alignment with upcoming 2026 legislative changes.
  • Pension Administration - Oversee auto‑enrolment assessments, opt‑outs and monthly submissions to providers such as Aviva and NEST.
  • Year‑End Activities - Produce P60s, manage P45s for leavers and complete P11D benefit reporting.
  • Deductions & Attachments - Administer student loans, AEOs and salary sacrifice schemes including Cycle to Work.
  • Employee Support - Act as the first point of contact for queries on tax codes, NI categories and payslip discrepancies.
  • System Integration - Support the transition into Moorepay for both payroll and HR functions.
  • HR Collaboration - Work closely with HR to ensure seamless processes and accurate data flow, supporting with HR administration over a multi-site operation.
  • Organisational Structure Maintenance - Maintain hierarchy and organisational data within the new system.
  • Reporting - Produce regular and ad‑hoc reports including holiday, absence and headcount.

What You’ll Bring

  • End‑to‑end payroll experience with strong technical capability.
  • Understanding of HR data structures and how they impact payroll accuracy.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • Experience partnering with both HR and Finance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax law, NI rules and NMW compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) for reconciliation and reporting.
  • High discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive data under UK GDPR.
  • Payroll system integration experience.
  • CIPP qualification (Level 3 or 4 preferred).
  • Experience with UK payroll systems such as Moorepay, Access or Greentree.
  • Confidentiality & integrity.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
