Ball UK is seeking a Logistics Manager to build, develop and lead a team to deliver end‑to‑end inbound and outbound transport solutions. As a key partner to Customer Service and the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll own your own strategy for the UK and international logistics, developing and building our network of third‑party carriers, and drive performance across service, cost and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Own weekly/daily transport plans, optimising routes, schedules and capacity using planning software and in‑house systems to achieve strong OTIF performance.
- Coordinate inbound collections across UK/Europe for direct delivery to customers and ensure smooth flow into Stratford for collation and onward delivery to customers—supporting accurate orders and a consistent customer experience.
- Build, develop and manage a resilient network of third‑party carriers, including tenders, rates and KPI performance reviews focused on service quality and reliability.
- Lead stakeholder alignment with Customer Service and senior leadership; set priorities, manage delivery risk and drive rapid service recovery when disruption occurs.
- Own transport‑related customs documentation and compliance for international movements; maintain audit‑ready records to avoid delays and protect customer commitments.
- Ensure customs and excise paperwork requirements are met for relevant shipments, coordinating with brokers and carriers to support compliant, on‑time clearance.
- Control transport spend and reporting (e.g., OTIF, inbound reliability, route efficiency), driving continuous improvement that enhances customer experience and cost‑to‑serve.
- Identify and maximise opportunities to utilise available distribution centre space and resources efficiently during the low season (developing a 52 week operational excellence plan).
- Significant experience in transport planning/logistics, including senior management of third‑party haulage partners and service‑level governance.
- Proven ability to shape strategy and make high‑impacting decisions that balance service, cost and operational constraints in a fast‑paced, time‑critical environment.
- Equally comfortable setting a strategic direction and rolling up sleeves to deliver the operational detail, including hands‑on planning, administration and required shipment paperwork (import/export documentation).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; confident operating at senior level and translating priorities into executable daily plans.
- Advanced user of transport planning/routing systems; strong Excel and data‑driven performance reporting capability (e.g., OTIF, service quality, cost‑to‑serve).
- Customer focused and calm under pressure; able to lead through seasonal peaks, resolve exceptions quickly, and protect product quality and delivery promises.
Why Join Ball UK? You’ll step into a role with real ownership, real influence and real impact. This is your chance to shape a high‑performing logistics function at the heart of a business where service excellence truly matters.
