The Plant Manager leads the overall performance of a continuous operation manufacturing plant, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability. Responsible for a strong, positive culture by developing, engaging, and empowering a high-performing workforce, fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence. This role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, builds strong stakeholder relationships, and optimizes plant efficiency to exceed organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall safety performance in the plant by ensuring plant focus on programs, procedures and KPI’s in accordance with Ball safety programs.
- Leads a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in EHS behaviours across the plant.
- Provides oversight for the operations management team including production, engineering, maintenance, quality and safety along with a strong connection to planning, procurement, supply chain, finance and human resources.
- Ensures plant performance is closely linked to customer requirements, product specifications and quality controls.
- Confirms the plant complies with all environmental regulations by maintaining effective environmental programs.
- Works collaboratively as a member of the plant leadership team to maximize efficiency of plant in terms of profit, productivity and cost by providing direction and collaborating with central support functions including finance, manufacturing excellence, quality, commercial, engineering, sourcing, human resources, health/safety, communications, legal and technical services.
- Aligns with Manufacturing Cost Controller/Finance and manages the plant budget, cost per thousand and operating plans.
- Supports the achievement of plant-level KPI’s in areas of environmental, health & safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, maintenance and sustainability.
- Collaborate with other plants in benchmarking and optimization in order to exceed Company objectives.
- Responsible for the selection, training, growth and development of shift and staff personnel to attain organisational goals.
- Supports positive employee relations in the plant, and with local/national union leadership, including leading and managing union negotiations in line with the aligned strategy, if applicable.
- May be responsible for special projects related to other functional areas.
- Orchestrate activities, assignments and projects to maintain optimal level of customer service for both internal and external customers.
Qualifications
- Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college or work-related experience.
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain (MBA-Preferred).
- Job related experience for 10 year(s) minimum.
- 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience (high speed manufacturing/packaging preferred).
- Highly Matrixed/High Growth Organization Experience.
- Advanced English.
