Base salary – starting salary is £44,000 per annum, increasing to £46,000 per annum upon completion of the first phase of the skills matrix and a further increase to £48,000 per annum upon full completion of the skills matrix should the contract go beyond 6 months.

This role involves shift work – 12 hour shifts, working days, nights and weekends.
Position overview:
As the Line Mechanic, you’re a key member of the Milton Keynes Team, reporting to the Team Leader/Shift Manager. You will contribute to the success of Ball by performing tasks and providing services to support the plant's production goals and overall business plans.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure the machines are making good quality cans, to the volumes required.
- Ensure ink levels are kept to the correct amount and design changes are efficient and accurate.
- Ensure machine cleaning and quality checks are completed on time and accurately.
- Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
- Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
- Performs various manual or mechanical production and support functions by operating, adjusting, and repairing the production and support equipment to meet customer specifications.
- Performs preventative maintenance on production and support equipment as required.
- Initiate, review, and follow all standard operating procedures for area of responsibility.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the department.
What are we looking for:
- Job-related experience for 2 years minimum in a manufacturing environment.
- Apprenticeship in a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering discipline (time served engineer).
- Experience of preventative and planned maintenance.
- The ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
- Printing experience would be advantageous.
- Sound communication skills, ability to clearly explain processes.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
