Join our Power Commercial team as a Commercial Manager and you will deliver complex work that matters to our business and become involved in some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the industry.

Projects Locations: Aberdeenshire. Balfour Beatty Power is at the forefront of driving the UK’s transition to Net Zero by reinforcing Scotland’s energy network to secure community connections and support the integration of new wind power. We have exciting opportunities at all commercial levels to become involved in this once‑in‑a‑generation energy transition.

This is a hybrid role based at Maxim Park (Motherwell), with regular travel to key site locations in the Highlands, Aberdeenshire and Stirlingshire and the flexibility to work from home, supported by Balfour Beatty’s smart working policy.

Responsibilities

  • Financial management of one or more major, complex projects from inception, tendering, negotiating and agreeing contracts to commercial delivery.
  • Directly responsible for projects often worth many tens of millions of pounds.
  • Act as an integral part of the project senior leadership team, holding key responsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of each project.
  • Oversee risk management, procurement, financial reporting, supply chain management and other commercial functions.
  • Provide commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadership across the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate and secure favourable contractual terms and ensure commercial performance.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES or CIOB, and a demonstrated mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to professional qualification.
  • Proven track record of managing and developing a commercial team.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of the construction industry, including flexibility and a talent for negotiation.
  • Strong commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadership skills.
