About The Role

The Rig Attendant is responsible for promoting Excellence, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. The Rig Attendant must remain self-aware and promote best practice and company values. The Rig Attendant must ensure that they are familiar with the relevant company policies and procedures and always follow.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Direct the operation of a Piling Rig from a safe position and guide the rig to a given location, including through areas of limited or restricted space.
  • Position yourself in a safe area away from the direction of travel or work activity and remain visible to the operator or driver at all times.
  • Follow safe systems of work for all activities involving height, including rigging, hose blockage, refuelling, maintenance, cleaning and de‑rigging.
  • Assist with HSE targets and ensure standards are maintained.
  • Focus on zero‑harm, defect‑free delivery and sustainability principles.
  • Follow Golden Rules and site HSEQS initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of H&S documentation.
  • Support immediate management in setting personnel to work.
  • Attend and participate in daily activity briefings.
  • Follow risk assessments, method statements, and work to existing Balfour Beatty safe systems of work.
  • Ensure exclusion zones, signage, and gates are maintained while working closely with the designated Rig Operator.
  • Report all observations, close calls and good practice to the supervisor.
  • Align and ensure piles are accurately installed to specification (production control).
  • Maintain safe working areas and exclusion zones during operations to prevent unauthorised entry.
  • Be aware of project plans, specifications, schedules, and sequences of works; actively participate in meetings.
  • Follow schedules and programmes, identify conflicts and propose resolutions.
  • Monitor and react to ground or site conditions, including the piling platform.
  • Ensure works are carried out efficiently and safely.
  • Be prepared to work overtime and adjust breaks as required by the contract.
  • Be ready to complete other site roles and tasks within the team.
  • Deliver safe logistics for loading and unloading; eliminate safety risks through sound planning.
  • Understand the importance of logistics for programme success.
  • Follow loading and unloading procedures and coordinate the lifting of the cage with the designated slinger, signaller, and crane operator.
  • Position the cage over the bore for installation under the direction of the Rig Attendant.
  • Follow sequencing and logic of the project process.
  • Follow drawings, specifications, and checklists.
  • Complete required checklists, snags, and quality observations.
  • Support the management of quality issues and the QA process, including NCRs.
  • Assist in meeting target outputs as required for the scope of works.
  • Stay aware of key contract dates and sustainability requirements.

  • Awareness of scheduling and programme management; short‑term planning for the overall construction programme.
  • Understanding of basic regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Basic understanding of safety protocols and best practices.
  • Understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes.
