We are looking for an experienced Section Engineer to join the site team and take responsibility for the day to day delivery of a defined section of works. You will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, to specification, and within budget.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out complex setting out and providing primary setting‑out control.
  • Coaching and supporting junior engineers in developing their skills.
  • Managing and coordinating site activities within your section of works.
  • Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and RAMS.
  • Assisting with short-term planning, method statements, and ITPs.
  • Monitoring quality and maintaining accurate site records.
  • Supporting commercial teams with progress reporting and records for valuations and variations.
  • Promotion and maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Who we’re looking for:

  • A proven ability to carry out complex setting out accurately and confidently.
  • Experience working on highways, infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects.
  • A formal civil engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, degree or equivalent).
  • Experience producing Activity Control Plans.
  • An awareness of Specifications and key contract documents.
  • An understanding of permit systems and the ability to raise Permits to Work.
  • The ability to identify hazards and implement effective controls.
  • Experience using 13‑week Stage Programmes.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of subcontractor outputs.
  • A good understanding of Temporary Works and construction methodology.

Why work for us:

Benefits:

  • Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
  • 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata).
