Balfour Beatty is seeking a motivated Assistant Site Engineer to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team, supporting the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects across the East Coast of Scotland. Based in Dundee, this role offers the opportunity to build hands‑on site experience while working on vital projects that help power communities across the region.

What you'll be doing:

  • Attend periodic project reviews.
  • Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries, etc.).
  • Prepare both internal and external reports and consult with stakeholders.
  • Help ensure our teams provide relevant information to enable informed, cost‑ and programme‑effective decisions.
  • Learn how to read technical information, routing, setting‑out and drawings; maintain a relentless focus on safety and assist in managing the safety and welfare of the public, employees and supply chain.
  • Attend periodic Safety & Environmental Tours and promote observation and safety initiatives.
  • Assist in implementing innovative solutions and closing actions from a technical, engineering and safety perspective.
  • Read and understand risk assessment, technical work instructions and method statements, identifying, raising and reporting risks and hazards.
  • Help update resource allocation plans and raise appropriate requests.
  • Plan own daily tasks; manage subcontractors, including monitoring contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved.
  • Ensure procurement plans are available in line with overall project plans, so material, resources and supply chain can be delivered on schedule.
  • Help develop, implement, and periodically update resource‑loaded schedules.

Desirable qualities / experience:

  • Proficient on O365.
  • Holder of a current driving licence.
  • Training will be provided.
  • Holding or working towards a formal qualification (HND, BSc, MSc).
  • Holding CSCS and SSSTS or similar.
