Join Connect Plus Services as a Control Room Operator and be at the heart of managing and monitoring the strategic M25 DBFO network. Based at Dartford, with South Mimms as a resilience fallback, you will work as part of the control room team to ensure consistent delivery of a high standard of service, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the motorway network. You may occasionally travel to other locations to meet operational demand. In this role, you will contribute directly to the safety, performance, and resilience of the network, responding to incidents, coordinating resources, and maintaining accurate operational records.
What You'll Be Doing
- Coordinate deployment of resources during incidents, ensuring responses comply with company policy and contractual requirements.
- Receive and disseminate information accurately to optimise safety, efficiency, and incident resolution; monitor CCTV, tunnel, and bridge safety systems and take appropriate action when alarms are triggered.
- Maintain accurate records of network occupancy using bespoke databases and keep relevant colleagues and stakeholders informed of critical incidents via escalation platforms.
- Work to agreed business performance and quality standards and build strong, effective working relationships with stakeholders, including real‑time liaison with Highways England Regional Operations Centres, NTIC, and NILO.
- Receive and implement weather‑related decisions in accordance with the Severe Weather Plan.
Who We're Looking For
- Experience working in an environment involving the time‑critical deployment of resources, ideally in operational control rooms, emergency services, or National Highways settings.
- Confidence operating in a performance‑driven environment, with excellent oral and written communication skills and strong problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, manage competing priorities effectively, and make informed decisions to maintain network safety and performance.
