About the role
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for aAccounts Team Memberto work in our Finance – Subcontract Team based inQuorumBusiness Park, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Please Note:This role offers a hybrid office / work with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office with flexible working hours.
The Subcontract team provide financial, administrative and clerical support to the
organisation, they contribute to ensuring our supply chain are paid to the prompt
payment code.
What you\’ll be doing
As aAccounts Team Member, you will have the following accountabilities:
Role Specific
- Reviewing and processing subcontractor payments, including dealing with rejections,holds, and VAT-related issues
- Managing daily queries related to the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) andDomestic Reverse Charge (DRC)
- Resolving subcontract payment and purchase order queries in collaboration withprocurement and commercial teams
- Responding to queries from internal stakeholders and external suppliers
- Investigating and resolving invoice queries efficiently and in a timely manner
- Liaise with the wider finance and commercial teams to resolve queries and issues on overduedebt
- Escalating complex issues to the Subcontract Manager where necessary
- Collaborating with wider Finance team colleagues to ensure consistency andefficiency
- Contributing to team meetings, huddles, and wider business forums
- Supporting team members during periods of high activity or absence to ensure
- business continuity
Who we\’re looking for
The following qualities are essential:
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Excellent communication abilities, including professional telephone manner andstrong customer service focus
- Organised, proactive, and able to multitask to meet tight deadlines
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and IT at grades A–C
- Collaborative team player with a positive and adaptable approach
The following experience is desirable, but not essential:
- Knowledge of CIS and DRC
- Working towards AAT level 2 or other professional exams e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ICM
- Experience of working within the Oracle ERP system
