About the role

SZC is ultimately owned by two shareholders, EDF and HMG. The shareholders hold their investment in SZC through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. Over the course of the current shareholding arrangements, the shareholdings of the two shareholders will change. The shareholders will fund SZC up until Financial Close through equity in line with the approved schedule and budget. SZC's business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

The principal objectives of the current development phase of the SZC project are to agree and implement the Capital Raise Plan, including completing an equity and debt raise, agree the core supply chain contracts and obtain the regulatory permits and licences required for the construction phase of the Project.

What you'll be doing

  • The purpose of the role is to provide management, leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers & Foremen.
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm.
  • Motivate section team and manage performance; monitor the competency of team members and undertake training/coaching as appropriate.
  • Sets targets and KPI's in line with Project/Business objectives and monitors performance.
  • Carries out periodic Safety & Environment Tours as required by the Project H & S Plan.
  • Assists Lead in Incident Investigation and information gathering/review.
  • Leads periodic risk reviews and takes output forward to the Project Risk Register.
  • Monitors effectiveness of the H & S Management System.
  • Keeps up to date with changes in legislation and cascades information to the team.

Engineering Control

  • Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an appropriate level of ability.
  • Identifies and arranges training as required.

Quality

  • Sets targets and KPI's in line with Project objectives and monitors performance.
  • Ensures site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings.
  • Implements systems and processes to manage the quality of the constructive works.
  • Overall ownership of Handover Documentation for Section.

Productivity

  • Sets targets and KPI's in line with key outputs and monitors performance, reporting Section Progress.
  • Manages sub-contractor performance based on KPI's.
  • Chairs prescribed Short Interval Control section meetings to review performance on site.

Commercial

  • Sets targets and KPI's in line with budget forecast.
  • Attends and provides reports for weekly project meetings and identifies improvement areas.
  • Produces the risk schedule for section, reviews and updates.

  • Understands method statements and can coach others in document production.
  • Good working knowledge of current H & S legislation.

Engineering Control

  • Experienced in resource allocation and up-skilling.
  • Competent in reading technical drawings and information.

Quality

  • Clear understanding and experience of the requirements for handover and self-certification of the works.

Productivity

  • Able to analyse and offer improvement on a fully resourced stage programme.
  • Experience in the management of pavement reconstruction and surfacing operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Holds a current driving licence and CSCS Card.
  • SMSTS qualified.
