You will play an important part in ensuring traffic signals, variable message signs and wider transport technology operate effectively—contributing to a safer, smoother and more reliable network for all road users. If you enjoy problem solving, have an interest in IT, and want to develop your technical skills while working closely with an experienced team, this role offers the perfect opportunity.

What you will be doing

  • Identifying faults on the traffic signal network and reporting them to the subcontractor for resolution.
  • Programming and updating Variable Message Signs across the city.
  • Supporting the delivery of transportation projects and ongoing monitoring of the transport network.
  • Installing temporary timelapse cameras and managing data collection.
  • Liaising with customers, subcontractors and utilities to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in Word, Excel, MS Teams and other MS applications, with familiarity in LINSIG or KeySignals beneficial.
  • Prioritising workload to ensure compliance with contract KPI targets and transport schemes.
  • Communicating effectively with a range of different stakeholders.
  • Working in line with all relevant Health & Safety requirements.
  • Undertaking personal training and development to build skills, knowledge and competence.

Who we are looking for

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and problem solving.
  • HND qualification (desirable).
  • Three A levels at grade C or above (desirable).
  • GCSE grades C or above in Maths, English and Science (essential).
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to ask questions and develop your knowledge.
