Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to join our growing team. As a Business Analyst, you will be pivotal in leading programmes and major IT projects across the organisation. This role is responsible for delivering complex outcomes to our business on time and within budget, contributing significantly to the strategic objectives of the IT department and the broader business goals.
As a Business Analyst, you will work across a range of IT and business engagements within the IT Business Analysis Team. Types of work will include:
- Supporting the production of business cases with stakeholders
- Eliciting high-level and functional requirements through interviews, workshops, and gap analysis for software, hardware, and infrastructure projects
- Working within demand governance and the Concept phase to improve the definition of business demand from IT and enhance outcomes through delivery and handover into service.
- Supporting IT and technical roles during the project lifecycle
- Supporting Bids, Mobs, and JVs as needed
As a more experienced BA, you will report to the Lead BA, assist in maintaining standards across artefacts and behaviours, mentor junior colleagues and graduates, and actively participate in practice development and governance.
Who we’re looking for
Experience in Business Analysis with 5-10 years of relevant experience
Expertise in business engagement, process, and data, including:
- Engaging stakeholders at all levels using analytical techniques to document requirements and capability statements
- Working within a business operating model and strategic roadmap to prioritize activities and facilitate workshops
- High-level data modeling and information requirements
Expertise in IT delivery, including:
- Supporting projects in infrastructure and software solutions, both on-premise and cloud-based
- Experience working with external suppliers/partners
- Knowledge of delivery frameworks like Agile and Waterfall
Experience in related environments such as construction, engineering, manufacturing, oil & gas, retail, or supply chain is advantageous.
Additional valuable experience includes:
- Mentoring junior colleagues and process improvement
- Working within governance structures and supporting business stakeholders through delivery cycles
- Experience with Joint Ventures or client organizations
