Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build a 90km stretch of HS2 in the West Midlands – Britain’s new high-speed railway. Our work is crucial to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham, and onwards to Manchester. It’s an exciting time to join us, as we are at peak construction with extensive work on bridges, tunnels, and viaducts. Join 9,000 people from 72 nationalities working on this significant project across the region.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager within our Commercial team . This role is based on-site in Birmingham .

Role Responsibilities

  1. Understand the impact of commercial and technical changes at a strategic level within the customer’s industry or sector.
  2. Possess a high level of understanding of project start-up procedures and be actively involved in their implementation.
  3. Provide commercial support during tendering processes.
  4. Establish and maintain accurate reporting structures, monitor resources and costs to ensure project targets are met or exceeded, using knowledge of planning, programming, and financial reporting to challenge the project team.
  5. Identify, manage, and reduce unnecessary costs and inefficiencies, including resource scheduling.

Experience Required

  1. BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
  2. Member or Fellow of RICS, ICES, or CIOB.
  3. Experience with NEC contracts.
  4. Ability to see the bigger picture and prioritize business opportunities.
  5. Proactive in responding to market and customer requirements.
  6. Leadership skills to recruit, lead, and coordinate a commercial team.
  7. Ability to review tenders and cost data.
  8. Knowledge of legislation and legal liaising skills.
  9. Ability to establish client supply chain requirements and advise on contracts and procurement.
  10. Capability to report and explain commercial progress to senior management.
