Overview
We are hiring for a Mechanical Building Services Engineer role at Balfour Beatty VINCI.
Join our team to work on Britain’s largest construction project—HS2. This role is based on site in Kingsbury and involves delivering mechanical building services engineering support during construction, commissioning, and handover of complex infrastructure assets on the HS2 project.
Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical building services engineering support during the construction, commissioning, and handover phases of complex infrastructure assets on the HS2 project.
- Ensure design intent is met, uphold quality standards, and support on-time and on-budget construction progress.
- Collaborate with HS2 representatives, design consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with UK regulations and HS2 specifications.
- Interpret and apply relevant drawings, specifications, British Standards, Building Regulations, and design guides (e.g., CIBSE Guides, BS EN standards).
Qualifications
- Degree (BEng/BSc or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems for infrastructure buildings, including: ventilation, heat pumps, firefighting stair pressurisation, domestic hot and cold water, stormwater and foul drainage (above and below ground), fire hydrants and gaseous suppression systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Familiarity with health and safety standards in the UK construction industry.
- Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of relevant British Standards, Building Regulations, and design guides (e.g., CIBSE Guides, BS EN standards).

About Balfour Beatty VINCI
Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long-established joint venture delivering critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We design and build routes for HS2, including substantial elements such as viaducts, tunnels, bridges, and underpasses, across the West Midlands region.
We will be building across our sites: 9.3 km of viaducts; 2 twin bore tunnels and 2 cut-and-cover tunnels; 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses.
