HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Now is a great time to join us and be part of a diverse team of nearly 9,000 people from over 80 nationalities working together to deliver major assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Whether onsite or office based all colleagues have a key part to play in delivering this critical transport infrastructure project.

Current Opportunity

Location: Birmingham

Role Responsibilities

  • Attend HAZID workshops to support design and construction activities within allocated sublot.
  • Review and input to HAZOP reports prepared by DJ CSM team.
  • Assist sublot construction team with CSM and Interoperability issues, in particular update of SRR, A4SR and NTSN documents post design stage in support of Construction and Handover / Commissioning stages.
  • Point of contact between Sublot team and DJV CSM team.
  • Review construction SRR and A4SR documents prepared by the sublot teams in support of construction stage system safety.
  • Review supporting arguments and evidences proposed.

Technical / Professional Qualifications

  • Technical / professional engineering qualifications and training records. Preferably professionally qualified or working towards.
  • Knowledge and years of experience of System Safety and / or Interoperability. Not necessarily just in rail industry, similar experience involving systems engineering from other industries considered.
  • Excellent communication and management skills to be able to influence others.
  • Familiar with the H&S aspects of design and construction (risk assessments) and can differentiate between CDM and CSM.
  • Understands interfaces between engineering disciplines involved in the project.
  • Understands the requirements, roles and responsibilities with regard to CDM, CSM-RA Regulations and Railway interoperability regulations.
