Storeperson – Balfour Beatty plc
Join Balfour Beatty as a Storesperson on the Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team, supporting operations at Norwich Grid Park and Windfarm Substation. This vital, hands‑on role ensures the site stores and yard run efficiently and safely.

Contract Type: Temporary/Project‑based
Key Responsibilities
- Support the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the site Stores and Yard
- Issue and receive materials, tools, specialist plant, components, consumables, PPE and equipment
- Maintain accurate records and ensure stock levels meet the demands of the project
- Deliver timely reports on inventory, including early alerts for limited or critical stock
- Catalogue stock effectively, ensuring correct segregation and grouping of materials
- Coordinate the safe disposal of redundant or waste items in line with regulations
- Uphold safety and quality standards across all store‑related activities
Additional Duties
- Co‑ordinate and manage plant & stock ensuring all administration procedures are followed, and ensuring accurate stock management
- Regularly review supply alternatives to ensure best value is always achieved
- Liaise with operational staff to ensure materials required for site are arranged and accessible in line with operational extended hours working
- Unload & load delivery vehicles
- Check deliveries against advice notes for quality, quantities & damage
- Liaise with suppliers on the replacement/return of faulty/damaged stock
- Ordering and issuing of materials, PPE, consumables, etc.
- Hiring, acceptance and off‑hiring of plant and equipment
- Management of the calibration of tools & equipment (incl Lifting)
- Security of yard ensuring access is only permitted to authorised personnel
- Ensuring yard(s) and store is tidy at all times
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others affected by your actions or omissions whilst at work
- Cooperate with BB in all matters pertaining to Health and Safety to enable the Company to carry out and enhance its legal duties and requirements
- Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all persons under your control
- Do not recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare
- Bring to the attention of your manager any perceived shortcomings in health and safety arrangements or situations that you consider to be serious or imminent danger to yourself or others
- Do not undertake any safety critical work activity or activity for which a specific competence is required, unless you have received the necessary training/instruction and/or assessment and hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work. Do not instruct others to undertake such work if they do not hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work
- Work collaboratively with Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Operational Staff and Support Functions
- Drive yourself and others to comply with all business policies, procedures and governance
- Support the Project Team with development of a high‑performance culture of one team
- Talk positively and listen actively across the business and the people within it

Qualifications and Experience

- Full clean driving licence

- Responsibility – a strong attitude towards health and safety
The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable
- Experience of working on a variety of construction project types
- Knowledge of the Power industry (an advantage)
- Valid Plant Tickets (an advantage)
- Valid Telehandler licence
- IT Skills – MS Outlook, MSP & MS Word, Excel
- OHL Authorisations (an advantage)
- Emergency First Aid at Work
