Join our Highways team as a Senior Site Ecologist – Manchester/Sheffield on our Northern projects and you can build something to be proud of. What you\’ll be doing Reporting to the Balfour Beatty Head of Sustainability: Natural Environment and project leads, the Senior Site Ecologist will perform the following key activities: Lead on delivery of project ecological requirements. Develop and implement ecological management plans. Build and maintain relationships with regulators, clients and design teams, and internal teams. Ensure site compliance with ecological legislation and coach construction teams in applying controls and mitigations in pragmatic, cost-effective ways. Ensure the company environmental management system is maintained in line with changing standards and legislation and liaise with senior team lead on changes required. Lead investigations and report on ecological incidents. Who we\’re looking for The following qualities/experience are essential: Excellent knowledge of ecological management and mitigation Excellent understanding of ecological legalisation for development Good level of commercial awareness Full driver’s licence and flexibility to travel Good understanding of environmental management for construction sites Good understanding of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook Excellent communication skills The following qualities/experience are desirable: Educated to degree or Masters level in Ecology or related subject At least one protected species survey licence and/ or preferably experienced in badger mitigation Experience of working on large scale infrastructure construction projects Full CIEEM Membership Why work for us Day in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UK’s most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities.
