About The Role
Support the survey manager in the delivery of all survey requirements for the project as the technical/operational lead on a project. On a larger project, will be the survey manager for a section of works supported by a team. Tasks include engineering control, topographic survey, engineering surveying and setting out. Provide the site team with construction information, assist in QA/QC, and support H&S (Health & Safety) and sustainability initiatives within the survey department.
What you'll be doing
- Deputise for the ESM as required, liaising with the project management team.
- Implement a standardised approach to the capture of all survey data and creation of deliverables across the project.
- Produce deliverables to strict deadlines in accordance with the site programme.
- Collecting survey field data, processing, and issuing to clients or stakeholders in the agreed formats.
- Ensuring all site-specific tolerances are met in any survey related operations.
- Ensuring the safe and secure storage of all historical survey data relating to the project.
- Manage, mentor, and supervise survey teams. Ensure they adhere to the latest Company Business Management systems and procedures.
- Involved in the recruitment and management of an employee lifecycle.
Health Safety and Environment
- Responsible for the safe working of themselves, their team, and others.
- Hazard identification and raising observation cards.
- Provide daily site safety briefings to the survey team, SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- Creating site safety briefings including the preparation of WPP (Work Package Plan), RA (Risk Assessment), and TBS (Task Briefing Sheets).
Engineering Control
- Ensure checks on survey equipment are carried out in accordance with Company Standards And Requirements.
- Carry out survey QA on design deliverables prior to construction release.
- Provide site engineers with information from design deliverables (schedules, digital models, and drawings).
- Review deliverables of independent surveys checks throughout the construction process.
Quality
- Complete QA (Quality Assurance) records as required.
- Manage the production of as-built drawings from survey data in survey specific software.
- Comply with hold point checks in accordance with the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) procedure.
- Formally comprise and issue results to all relevant stakeholders.
Commercial
- The management and collation of required survey records to aid the commercial management of the project.
- Advise on survey equipment procurement, staffing levels and training requirements.
- Involved with program and budget, liaising with SLT.
- Liaise with Client where required.
- Advice procurement on supply chain partners.
- Awareness of commercial risks.
Who we're looking for
- Relevant degree/masters/Diploma in either Geospatial engineering/Land surveying/Engineering surveying, or equivalent industry recognised qualification.
- Hold a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) SMSTS Full member or working towards full membership of CICES or RICS.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all teams.
- An elevated level of understanding and experience in design, construction and surveying within a construction environment.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in organizing and managing site survey teams.
- Knowledge of and checking design deliverables in various digital formats.
- Appreciation of setting up and maintaining of machine control systems.
- Experience in settlement monitoring systems, methods, and technologies.
- Experience in geodetic requirements associated with project requirements.
- Experience using latest survey equipment, software, and technologies.
- Experience in establishing GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) networks.
