About The Role
Balfour Beatty is recruiting a Senior Civils CAD Technician to join the Power T&D team in Scotland.
We welcome applications from both full-time and part-time candidates, including those interested in job-sharing. Our flexible working policy supports a healthy work-life balance.
Role Purpose
Coordinate with Site Operative & Design teams to produce drawings for Power Transmission & Distribution Projects, mainly Civils-driven, such as Stone Haul Roads, Bellmouths, Crane Pads, & Earthworks, ensuring compliance with BIM & client requirements, schedule, cost, and quality.
What you\’ll be doing
Key Accountabilities
Deliver drawings for Haul Roads, Bellmouths, Crane Pads, & Earthworks, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to BIM & client specifications. Report to the Design Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Support drawing production for various sites as a CAD Technician under a Design Team Leader.
- Understand contract document requirements and liaise with Senior/Principal Design Engineers to confirm design needs.
Contribute to delivering high-standard, accurate project drawings across departments, in line with client and BIM standards.
- Be proactive, work independently and in teams, share knowledge, and learn new skills.
- Produce Earthwork drawings, including Swept Path Analysis, using lidar & DTM data, balancing cut and fill volumes.
- Ensure deliverables meet timescales and self-check work before approval and BIM submission.
- Participate in team meetings and improve CAD delivery efficiency.
- Always promote Safety by Design.

Who we\’re looking for
Preferred Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or CAD.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
- Full driving license.
General Experience
- Experience as a CAD Technician in Civil/Engineering environments.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, GIS, Microstation, visualization, and working within BIM.
