Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional weekends)

About the Project

Join a high-performing team delivering a multi-million-pound civil engineering project with Balfour Beatty Vinci. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major infrastructure scheme with long-term prospects. You’ll be part of a well-established drainage team focused on track, landscaping, highways, and road drainage. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, ideal for experienced engineers who can hit the ground running and provide immediate value to the team.

The Role

As a Section Engineer – Drainage, you’ll be responsible for managing and delivering specific sections of drainage works on site. You will oversee setting out, team coordination, and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and programme objectives. You will work closely with Site Engineers and other team members to ensure successful delivery of drainage and associated civils works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise drainage works (track, road, landscaping, highways)
  • Set out works using GPS and total station equipment
  • Develop and manage Activity Control Plans
  • Supervise and support Site Engineers and Graduate/Apprentice Engineers
  • Conduct quality inspections, manage NCRs, and resolve technical queries
  • Monitor health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Coordinate subcontractors and ensure programme targets are met
  • Prepare weekly work plans and monitor progress against KPIs

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in drainage installation on civil engineering projects
  • Confident using surveying tools (GPS, total station)
  • Background in roadworks, earthworks, drainage, or related disciplines
  • Ability to lead and manage engineering teams
  • Full UK driver’s licence
  • Valid CSCS card
  • SMSTS certification

Desirable

  • HNC/HND/BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar survey software
