What you'll be doing:
- Ensures field construction material availability in line with agreed construction/discipline work packs, including electrical, mechanical and instrumentation materials.
- Monitors the work processes and the accurate distribution of said materials to Construction and/or sub-contractor installation locations.
- Coordinates the accurate reporting of all materials required for work package installation.
- Facilitates and liaises with the fabrication work shop, M&P (mechanical and piping), instrumentation and electrical contractors to ensure materials are available in line with the construction plan.
- Coordinates fabrication material delivery to the assigned contractor/construction area for mechanical installation.
- Ensures fabrication facility can deliver in line with the construction program.
- Liaise with the project team to assist with the resolution of supply issues as and when required.
- On site material sourcing to specification, demonstrating technical competence, identifying any potential issues to avert construction impact.
- Management of surplus material control.
- Support to logistics team in the technical identification of materials to site.
- Provides material co-ordination support to project functional groups (discipline groups).
- Advises, interfaces and provides guidance on materials coordination.
- OS&D (overage, shortage & damaged) reporting.
- Material utilisation reports.
- Training and support of logistics team members in the use, management and maintenance of Material Management System (MMS).
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Ensures that the receiving, storage, collection and loading of construction material is efficient and timely managed.
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices.
- Adherence to all safety, quality and environmental procedures, instructions and control measures.
- Support the delivery of Balfour Beatty's sustainability activities.
- Ensure that project plans and schedules are robust and optimise project resources and timescales and are communicated effectively to the project team.
Who we're looking for:
Experience in a warehousing environment is essential. Experience within a construction materials warehouse is desirable but applications from individuals within other engineering disciplines or FMCG are welcomed. The successful applicant will be proficient in standard "Microsoft Office" applications and, desirably, experienced with a Material Management System (MMS). Training however will be provided to the successful applicant in the operation of the MMS in use.
