Balfour Beatty is seeking a Business Development Assistant to join our Regional Civils business, supporting the identification and development of new work opportunities across the region. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our Bid and Work Winning teams, playing a key role in shaping future projects and supporting sustainable business growth. The role is ideal for someone highly organised, commercially aware, and keen to build a career in business development within the construction and infrastructure sector.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Bid Team throughout the tender process, including pre‑qualification and submission stages
- Assisting with bid coordination, document control, and compliance checks
- Researching new business opportunities, clients, and frameworks within the regional civils market
- Maintaining and updating opportunity pipelines, market intelligence, and CRM systems
- Producing high‑quality written and presentation materials for bids and client engagement
- Supporting market analysis, competitor research, and client profiling
- Coordinating meetings, workshops, and work‑winning activities
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a sales, administrative, business development, or bid support role (construction experience desirable but not essential)
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- A proactive, inquisitive approach with strong commercial awareness
