Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Lower Thames Crossing project, a £1.2 billion scheme consisting of 43 bridges (including viaducts), 17 km of complex highways construction, and complex utility diversions. The project adopts a scheme-wide, industry-leading approach to carbon reduction. Balfour Beatty Highways maintains, manages and operates major highway networks across the UK and supports local authorities to create communities where people want to live, work and play.
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will support the Design Engineering team in delivering projects related to the Lower Thames Crossing project.
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensuring the Project produces Quality management planning (including business unit/contract quality plans and industry-specific plans).
- Challenging systems and processes to ensure best practice and continual improvement.
- Ensuring the development, maintenance and application of appropriate content for the BMS to meet the needs of the business.
- Ensuring any specific Project or SBU standards requirements are effectively built into the BB ways of working within the BMS and/or local Quality Planning.
- Monitoring and reporting Project/SBU business performance relating to Quality and agreeing (and monitoring) management actions to drive performance improvements.
Who we’re looking for:
- Experience of Major Civil Engineering projects, preferably Highways.
- Extensive experience of construction in the UK Highways and major projects.
- Quality subject matter expertise and proven track record in Quality Management.
- Preferably experience of working in a construction environment, major civil works.
- Confident in working with Senior Management and able to challenge existing ways of working to support business improvement.
- Build strong relationships with delivery teams and project managers.
- Training and facilitation skills and experience.
