About the role

Balfour Beatty is currently recruiting an Engineering Manager to join the Power T&D team in Glasgow, Scotland.

The main function of the role is to lead and manage Project Engineering Teams in delivering all design and engineering works related to a construction project.

Background does not need to be within the High Voltage Power industry, as construction design management and product development experience are transferable. Our stakeholders, clients, and engineering teams value good quality leadership and a commitment to project goals.

Engineering Managers are expected to engage positively with internal and external stakeholders to manage scope, risks, and project timelines.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic, passionate individual interested in engineering and project management. We are open to full-time, part-time, or job share arrangements, with flexible working policies.

What you\’ll be doing

• Lead a team of engineers in the design and installation of complex critical national infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards of quality and safety.
• Coordinate with other functions within Balfour Beatty to provide optimal engineering solutions, considering technical and value engineering aspects.
• Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigations during the engineering design phase.

Who we\’re looking for

• Degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience leading engineering teams in design and build construction or installation projects.
• Background in Design, Project, Programme, or Construction Management.
• Familiarity with the Power Industry is beneficial but not essential.
