Role Purpose

Electrical Design Engineer – Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick.

Accountable for designing low‑voltage electrical distribution systems and creating all necessary documentation across heavy industrial projects. The role supports projects across England and Scotland, with a focus on project cost effectiveness, safety, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Design LV electrical distribution systems.
  • Create specifications, datasheets, cable calculations and schedules.
  • Produce drawings in collaboration with the CAD team.
  • Review manufacturer documentation for compliance with project specifications.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with technical consultants and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Trimble (Amtech) ProDesign.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build relationships across design and project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for all levels.
  • Knowledge of relevant UK codes of practice and regulatory material.
  • Experience in Petrochemical, Power Generation, Renewables or Nuclear environments.
  • Holding full UK work rights and eligibility for SC level Security Clearance.

  • Design of HV electrical systems.
  • Use of AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux/Relux, SKM, ETAP, Digsilent and PSCAD.
  • Experience with ATEX systems.
