Are you a commercially driven professional with a passion for delivering high-impact construction projects? Join Balfour Beatty as a Commercial Manager and play a pivotal role in one of Scotland’s most exciting new developments – the New Lochaber Hospital in Fort William. Starting from our Maxim office , you’ll lead commercial activities during the tender and pre-construction phase. Upon contract award, you’ll transition to a site-based role , where you’ll manage the commercial delivery of the project on the ground.
Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial strategy for the project from tender to completion
- Prepare and review estimates, tender submissions, and contract negotiations
- Drive financial performance, cost control, and value engineering initiatives
- Manage risk, procurement, supply chain relationships, and commercial reporting
- Act as a mentor and leader to commercial staff, championing professional development
- Ensure compliance with governance, GMCEs, and Balfour Beatty’s Cultural Framework
Who we’re looking for
- A qualified Commercial Manager with a BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
- Membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB (or working towards)
- Proven experience in structures-focused roles within the construction sector
- Skilled in managing commercial teams, contract negotiations, and cost reporting
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts, procurement strategies, and digital tools
