Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager – Substations based in Bridgwater, United Kingdom.
About The Role
Join our Power Transmission & Distribution team as a Site‑Based Senior Project Manager and play a key part in delivering complex, meaningful, and impactful projects in the South West of England. You will support sustainable energy infrastructure and help shape the future of power engineering.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Plan, manage, and deliver a major substation project, ensuring successful execution and compliance with safety standards.
- Prepare internal and external reports, liaise with stakeholders, and provide decision‑making information.
- Lead a zero‑harm culture, keep up‑to‑date with legislation, and manage risk/opportunity reviews.
- Develop, implement and update resource allocation plans (OBS) and procurements to meet deadlines.
- Build and develop high‑performing, diverse teams, and support their training through mentoring.
- Ensure handover, certification and cost control, advocating consistency of digital data for data‑driven decisions.
- Advise on contracts, performance evaluation and commercial aspects to keep projects within budget.
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience delivering high‑quality substation / National Grid projects.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to manage, mentor, and empower a multi‑skilled team.
- Commercial acumen to control costs and maintain budgets.
- Understanding of standard forms of contracts and performance evaluation techniques.
- Recognition or relevant engineering qualification.
